Why do so many people follow obvious spam accounts/bots? Every day new ones follow me and when I investigate like 8 people I follow follow them. Why so gullible? Lazy?? Or maybe they're bots too in which case 🤔🤖

For some people it's just a numbers game. Quality doesn't enter the equation, or is just an afterthought.

But isn't following more people perceived as a negative, typically? That ratio is status. It actually doesn't feel like that on FC which is really nice but that's literally the whole Twitter game

When it comes to Twitter behaviour transitioning here, all bets are off once things became permissionless. The standard you and I may hold towards this isn't thought of the same way by others. I'm equally curious. It would be interesting to directly chat about this with people who you see taking this approach.

Well said! And that'd be very interesting; I think most of the people who stick around here see this as a new game/world, not least of all because of the culture that exists and because of the opportunity to form the culture in the early days.

It takes all kinds. Like it or not, part of the culture also consists of airdrop hunters who have no intention to expand beyond that aspect. My thinking is that as the network evolves, so too will the filters to self tweak one's preferred signal to noise ratio.
