yall realize if you like something on zora and you mint multiple editions you can sell some later and actually profit off having contributed to the token's distribution right?

what do you think will make this click? on zora at least, collecting provides curatorial value not only in a profile but in the feed, where there are now referral fees. if i mint something, more people will see it and presumably collect.

people were used to minting one edition, and the behavior pattern stuck. despite massively lower prices, folks aren't necessarily minting more editions. it makes no sense not to mint 2 by default.

would've been interesting if zora forced collecting multiples.

uh yeah, i got that. last paragraph will be most cases for most creations. who wants to sell art for less than they bought it for? excluding brand drops, most people collect bc they actually like the thing. it costs skin to make a potential profit, but that skin results in significant distribution effects.

The value in this will take time to reveal itself. Automated liquid secondary markets mean tokens can have a life long after mint.

The previous iteration of low-cost mints was deeply flawed in that mint end equated to death for most tokens.

My goal now is to continue to bring attention to my body of work, which can be traded on easily. We'll see what that looks like in a few months

It's been a busy month and I missed this announcement . 
Haven't had much success with Zora over the last few months. I like the idea, but skeptical that it will make a difference for me. 

Is there someone you know who's been on the platform for a while & has had a boost because of this in ways they didn't previously

scarcity is not just enforced by quantity but price. this holds truer in a digital context. there's a massive misunderstanding of digital scarcity, in part due to the super rare meta. this still has power over creators who come from a physical/traditional background. 

digital assets will not accrue value for the vast majority of creators with scarce portfolios. perhaps for those with massive existing audiences, but these are the outliers. mints = attention = value = demand = higher prices = scarcity. i want to get in as many wallets as possible, that's my singular goal. there are no network effects otherwise.

It’s nice to be able to recoup the cost of minting but there still needs to be demand on the secondary market for that to be a viable long term solution. Hyperminting copious amounts of NFTs doesn’t seem like a reliable mechanism for scarcity, which is at the heart of what makes something collectible/desirable.

sustainable for who? presumably we collect to support the token and creator. when we collect we provide distribution and liquidity. this equation makes more sense for a body of work vs an individual token. the more attention an artist attracts the more value their work accrues. 

short-term price action only indicative of a moment in time. all price action is good price action when creators get trading fees. creators who continue to bring attention to a body of work will realize the benefits of secondary markets.

3 day mint windows, the default on zora, is arguably too short. 24 hours is goofy in the context of a perpetual secondary. the mint period's aim is to reflect market sentiment. 24 hrs won't capture that accurately

How do you see this becoming sustainable though? This assumes the token value goes up 🤔 

Perhaps with shorter mint windows, like rodeo?
