For production models it's rare, but not an uncommon mod. P90 in strats and especially teles is quite a common mod as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U46OWg67oNA

that’s awesome. Big fan of p90s - have a tele with wide range HB in the neck, brash like a p90. think LP I prefer PAFs but SG junior w single dogear is 🤌

Nice to learn that wide range sounds like a P90, never played wides and a lot of people were complaining about them. Did you know that the DiMarzio Steve Morse hb is based on a wide range, but at the same time it's this ultra hot, ultra tight shred monster

not exactly like a p90, but that half way between HB and single coil thing, and attitude for days. What are the complaints about WRHB? I’ll check out the dimarzios!

It was quite a while ago, but I think the complaints were not being clear and noisy. The Steve Morse is super hot though, if you want more P90 like maybe look at bluesbucker, hum bucket from hell and even the SDS single coil, they also have actual P90, or humbuckers in P90 size
