I don't think this is a solution ot anything, to be honest. Despite the single market, all entities (companies, governments, consumers) still treat the EU secondary to their national sentiments. If we want people to buy more European, we need to be better with that single market. One market, 2 or 3 languages max, one set of rules when it comes to creating companies, one capital market in which VCs are not tempted to pick between national support programs, a focus on expertise hubs, better (green) transport infrastructure, a culture that embraces failure as a way of learning.
This seems like trying to mend a broken leg with a band-aid. The big challenge is now that we still have de facto 26 different small home markets, where we could have 1 enormous home market, that might well be the biggest economy in the world. That is the unlock. 1 reply
