We should normalise discussing pre-tax salaries. I'm not talking about just your personal tax i'm talking about all the other lovely stuff the gov make your employer pay to put money in your pocket. Put whatever name on it you want - its all tax and its all money your company doesn't keep so can't pay you. Some of the *real tax* rates across europe are insane.

most Europe talks in gross salary though, no? At least that was the case when I lived in Germany.

In the UK we have gross salary for sure but it doesn't take into account employer national insurance contributions (13% on top). It would be too complicated to allocate an amount per person but this also doesnt include business rates, corp tax etc etc.
