I don’t expect Merkle to misuse data, but it’s always smart to be cautious when sharing personal info or participating in campaigns that push for more public exposure. They are a centralized incorporated company in the US.

Linking wallets with Twitter and phone numbers doesn’t seem like the safest choice, at least not without zk technology. The risk of data leaks is always there, and the stakes are especially high when you’re tying your crypto holdings to personally identifiable information. That kind of exposure could pose serious security threats.

Let’s not forget Google’s old motto.

Btw, Varun did mention that phone numbers will stay private FOR NOW (which makes me wonder what does “for now” actually means)
