If anyone also wants to overthink that Asthon Hall video, this is a good start. I noticed recently my YT feed has a big amount of essays talking about grindset, hyper-individualism, loneliness, and people feeling numb. How encouraging. https://youtu.be/L-eVQdSkMQE?si=qfLyNDJeVPhvVYcl

i honestly think it all comes down to loneliness, not having 'your' people, isolating yourself and so many factors play into that. l o n e l i n e s s we need technology to be on our side goddamn

lonely, robotic, mechanic maybe the original video is pure rage bait, or maybe it was a parody. many will take it seriously (hopefully only to a certain degree) this is exactly the issue. and @naomiii raises some good references. we are lonely, because "the deck is loaded". continuing the poker analogy, the house always wins and has all the advantages. capital, resources, brains, to optimise for "engagement". we perceive success and role-models with the tools offered by tech through influencers. how are Alice, Bob and Charlie supposed to understand what's going on, who's who and what's what if the tools are simply lacking? at least smaller players within the business space have CRMs to rely on, instead of monolithing social-graphs. it's what keeps me up at night and what pulls me to all the research @sheldrake published.
