His metaphors might be a bit one-sided 😂. Calling Farcaster a "casino" is an exaggeration, but it has attracted more degens than Nostr, though it still thrives on a community-driven builder culture.
He mentioned the history of software and internet development, has been a series of swings between centralization and decentralization. Nostr stands out as one of the most decentralized social protocols, giving users full control over their data.
However, this often means app development is community-driven, lacking the polish and competitiveness of mature teams, leading to a poorer user experience with weaker UI/UX and less sophisticated algorithms compared to platforms like Twitter and Threads. In exploring the creator economy, tipping alone isn’t an attractive and sustainable long-term model.
Echoing his "We make the road by walking", I look forward to the Nostr eco flourishing, which will require contributions from believers in DeSoc and top dev teams, which is also a challenge for Farcaster eco. 3 replies
