not to say hard work and integrity don’t matter obviously

but trump has repeatedly shifted the overton window. idiocracy is real. the casino is real. this *is* our world for better or for worse.

agency and idealism and aspirations are all great. the future *can* be different. better. 

but for now? this is our world. and you can allow that while still holding the above all true as well. it’s okay.

Well yeah sure but when you say that you absolve yourself of having agency and being an active participant in shaping our world. It is a means to wash your hands of the responsibility we all carry I kind of think. It makes it impossible as well to try and pursue a better world, by making idealism seem futile and hopeless. The tech industry I was attracted to was the opposite of this
