can someone explain the aella birthday thing? like what's the appeal generally? what about it appeals to men? or do they not like it? does it appeal to women? like would they want to do a birthday thing too? disclosure: i've only seen SF-based gen Z males posting about this so assume my baseline knowledge is zero

This subject has cursed my twitter timeline for the last 24 hrs and now it’s here too 😵💫 I think it’s a rare kind of person who would be into this kind of thing, definitely more men than women. The few male friends I’ve talked to about it expressed disgust but they could be lying, idk

i see it on twitter too but it all reads as smoke and mirrors and parodies and memes and it is almost like everyone is too afraid to just... directly speak their mind and share how it makes them feel?????? fwiw it is not for me, doesn't appeal at all, and would react strongly if a guy i was into told me he did it idk

“even expressed interest in something like this it would give me perma ick with no hope of recovery” a pretty good summation of aella in general lol starting off her substack review of the event with a nelson mandela quote was so on-brand
