💜💜💜 My biggest surprise is that a lot of Americans are selfless and do genuinely care about others. Applicable to individuals and bigger groups/communities. Some examples: Met quite a lot of folks who were adopted or have an adopted parent/siblings. Another one - a common stereotype about Americans is that you guys couldn’t care less about learning foreign languages. Imagine my shock when I found out you could choose to learn ASL in some schools. Logically, it’s not the most practical choice, but I’ve met hearing ppl who took those classes and continued learning ASL later in life
