too many countries are trying to attract tech by focusing too much on making visas easy to get and not enough on making themselves functional and livable. i believe that cities which prioritize functionality and safety, with low crime and a high quality of life, will ultimately thrive—but how many such places actually exist? people visiting singapore and being spellbound by its appeal is a testament to the fact that while visa policies are important, the overall functionality and quality of life of a city are crucial for making a lasting impression.

true! remote work is a great solution to this problem. however, many countries still view tech as a local asset, focusing on attracting high-paying talent rather than seeing it as a global commodity

Yeah for sure. No easy answers. I think, in general society overvalues tech without tallying the human costs that come with it. I’ve always loved technology but it’s been a long time and I’m looking at it a little differently now. Unforeseen consequences are a bitch 🤣
