I agree, options are part of the magic here! 

I like devcoins for the simplicity of it. 

I also really love the idea of the revnet style issuance structure so that devs can program their coins with more options as well, rather than just a basic old school tokenomic structure and the dev sits on a bag to sell when they need cash.

It can still be simple for the end user, which I think is really important.

I appreciate @scoutgamexyz and I'm there too, but I feel that devcoins (the way I define them) are much simpler. Also, they don't depend on some ranking or rewarding mechanism which will always be hard to evaluate things that are not "typical". 

For example, scoutgame rewards commits, which is a great way to encourage people to engage with projects. But my stupid commit that changed the layout of a form, has equal value to a big brain commit that fixes a deep bug in an encryption algo. There is no way to objectively evaluate what is more valuable.

Otoh, a "celebrity" dev will have much easier time monetizing a devcoin than a dev who is doing very important work but is not so outgoing. There will never be a one size fits all, it's good to have alternatives.
