I found this one to be interesting. Curious what others think. Intermixing workplaces with residential. It's very opposite in the US. Most zoning restricts any intermixing of commercial/industrial with residential. It's commonly called being a "NIMBY", Not In My BackYard! All it takes is one in the neighborhood to complain loud enough to keep something out they don't like. The idea of requiring residential and commercial to mix is quite a different perspective. I also wonder how industrial fits into this. I think every neighborhood should have a mini-farm producing whatever is regionally popular with a market where other rural farms as well as backyard urban farmers in the surrounding area can coordinate to distribute efficiently. We just have one big farmers market here in Eugene and it's quite amazing, but if we could reduce the overhead of logistics and admin, having dispersed markets all around town would make it so much more accessible to communities that would benefit most.
