Yeah, I figured. Just is something been on my mind recently after a convo with someone how an open source product leaked a ton of user data awhile ago. 

OSS isn't a silver bullet for privacy! It's only as robust as the values of the community that's holding it accountable!

OSS needs community as the accountability layer.

Transparency isn't enough on its own. We have to self-organize around the values that we want to see reflected in our OSS.

Yes. In practice, 99% of people don’t read the code and don’t have time/skills to patch it or fork it.

OSS works because users are relying on the community.
