Same, watched this the other week and it kinda inspired the idea. tldr: either is fine, health benefits are kinda unclear, prob best to use light mode during day, dark mode during night https://youtu.be/Ieq5sNEoc1E?si=SANcu6VK9U0taEg9

Idk man, there’s countless reputable scientific studies out there by now that have for decades proven how bad for our mental health all this excess artificial light is. I wouldn’t say it’s unclear, it’s just another issue people divide on, like everything else. If there’s a design issue, maybe it’s as simple as designing for dark mode, instead designing the dark version of light mode.

What I mean is that there’s no proof that dark mode is undeniably healthier than light mode. Just because screens emit less bright pixels doesn’t mean it’s easier on the eyes.

Watching the video it makes it pretty clear that it's marginally relevant compared to overall screen time. So it really boils down to user preference and ppl should have the option for either, ideally. Because it seems ppl are very strongly one way or the other. I straight up refuse to use light mode only apps, esp on mobile. But, having been the outcast for so long in a world of light mode only, I feel for those who have different preferences. It shouldn't be a dark-only world.
