Permissionless exit/sale (or rage quit) is now my bar for DAOs I’m willing to trust with significant value or energy. I have no problem with time locks, but I’ve got a serious hangover from the snapshot/multisig era of DAOs this morning.

Yes! This is exactly my answer when ppl ask me what is required to be a DAO, or what makes it a DAO. Permissionless exit is an essential part of the formula. Doesn't have to be live at first, but it does need to be live by the time you're asking for significant investment.
