Are meme coins a way to get value to creators faster?

The only way I know to get value out of a meme coin is you sell the token and extract value directly from those that still hold it. Also known as dumping. And anyone can do it, extracting more value than they contributed if they time it right. How do you design meme coins that aren't simply pump and dumps that extract value from those left holding? Seems like a highly exploitable compensation method.

The @clanker projects are getting fees from trading not selling the project tokens

I'm curious on the ecosystem support for that model. Generally from what I've seen, traders are less willing to speculate on tokens than extract such a fee, or they set up secondary markets to skirt it. Reminds me of the NFT royalty debate.

The fees are just a percentage of the Uniswap LP fees

But what's to stop ppl from setting up different pools that don't have that fee?

There is nothing to stop them. It seems like once the meme coin projects get to a certain market cap that the majority of trading is happing on the other pools

Yeah so that's the crux I guess of my response to the original question: In the early stages of a meme there won't be much trading vs accumulating, so tx fees will be minimal to the creator. As volume and speculation build, most of the trading will migrate to the lowest fee options, removing the profit for the Creator, unless they start dumping tokens into the other pools. The only trading in the main pool will be arbs and the highest value aligned ppl who want to contribute to the creator, but they will be paying a premium and getting fewer tokens compared to those trading in the other pools with lower fees, so you are rewarding the most extractive behavior and punishing the contributors while the creator gets left out. So I guess the question is, does the memetic incentive drive so much more speculation that the inefficiency still results in more overall volume of value capture for the creator?

If they are able to get the original fees from the early trading faster maybe that provides time to figure out overall volume strategies
