Oooooh I’ll have to give that a try. Do you buy it at the distillery or in stores?

Some friends just bought a coffee shop/café/bar, and they sell bottles of this custom cocktail, so I brought one home: “Old Man Fashioned” Blend of an Old Fashioned and Manhattan; Weller bourbon, Cask House Rye, sweet vermouth, amaro, bitters, simple syrup

It’s an inside joke on outsiders. A prank old men pull on kids to “make a man outta you”. Or one of those contests where guys kick each other in the junk as hard as they can until someone can’t get up.

Good signs: though it’s been too long and I’m humbled, I still had a good time. Still one of my favorite workouts.

Some friends of mine bought one of my favorite coffee shops (inside a climbing gym) & tonight is their first night of ownership. Super pumped for these guys to take on something new like this! Come on out to Apogee in Olathe. Their pizza is *excellent* and the beer/whiskey offerings are some of the best in town.

Reading this, I’m reminded of the fact that writing about history, constrained through some theme, is powerful because it allows you to visit and reimagine the same time periods over and over again from different perspectives based on what your thematic constraint is. It’s a book that I think touches on a topic that has been repeatedly investigated and deservedly so, and it’s a seminal book on the topic, imo

“The potential of newly created forests to draw down carbon is often overstated. They can be harmful to biodiversity. Above all, they are really damaging when used, as they often are, as avoidance offsets— “as an excuse to avoid cutting emissions,” Crowther said.” I love trees. I’ve supported initiatives like this in a few different ways, so this is a bit frustrating. And if I’m honest, it’s obvious in hindsight and I wish I would’ve been more selective in the projects that I supported. This points at a posture we often see in environmentalism though, that of the near total certainty (and even aggression) behind some research and directives. There’s little room for humility or tolerance for unintended consequences. https://www.wired.com/story/stop-planting-trees-thomas-crowther

Have you ever felt that certain moments in football needed theme music? Of course you have. And now, they do: https://www.perfectspiral.rocks
