When people talk about threat to democracy or institutions, what they mean is threat to democrats or democratically run institutions. 

When democrats storm the White House or try to jail their political opponent or stage a coup on their own candidate, this is good for democracy because it serves the democrat party.

this is a logical fallacy

just because ppl like memecoins, doesn't mean there aren't those who care about building

let ppl gamble on what they want, it's a free market — nothing is stopping you from hacking on novel crypto tech

To take this a step further…

Memecoins have pmf in that they are a fun way to speculate on internet virality. They also allow users to access and contribute to an online (degen) community that wouldn’t otherwise exist (e.g., telegram and discord groups).

The elevator pitch for crypto — 

If you believe that people will continue to spend their money on digital things (movies, games, art, in-game skins, etc.) and you believe in property rights -> then you believe in crypto. 

Crypto enables digital property ownership.
