I just learned that a reply from my account is worth ~$30 in Moxie, which is about 4x the federal minimum wage in the U.S. This explains the prevalence of bots and reply guys lately. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this development. On one hand, it feels harmless to airdrop free money to people simply for engaging. On the other hand, it has a distorting effect on social interactions that makes it hard to know what is genuine. I also feel kind of gross that something called a āFan Auctionā was launched using my likeness without my consent or approval. Iām not sure what the financial implications of that are, but it certainly wasnāt enough for me to say yes since it involves my reputation. Iām not sure what to do. I donāt want to stop using the app and Iām obviously benefiting from the system, but am deeply conscious of the precedent my behavior will set for others.
