The mentioned how the want to restrict the posts made in channels to only be seen in channels

And that the only way the all the  ‘public’ will be seeing your casts is when you post without channel

Interesting. It's the way Reddit operates. I'm ambivalent on this. There's been a few occasions where my cast didn't fit nicely in a channel, so I would end up posting outside any channel or in /no-channel.

But of course the vast majority of accounts with few followers will get no reach if they post outside of channels (possibly as a result of not understanding how cast distribution works). They will then get bored, and churn, so I understand the motivation to force everyone into channels.

On balance, I'd think it kind of makes sense

Cus then, everyone will know that if they make posts in a channel, the views they get will be greatly reduced

So they won’t bother posting in channels anymore… then, channels won’t grow

I don't think it's the end of channels at all... they'll just be more like clubs. most communities don't grow that quickly or beyond a certain point. But ideally each group as a whole wants to get a ton of followers aka status.

you'll have to be slightly more intentional about when you cast in a channel, but it's actually simpler that way. for the majority of stuff, you'll just cast without a channel, because it's easier and you don't have to think about it.

then warpcast just needs to do a good job showing content from people your friends follow, so that you can meet new ppl and see more relevant stuff.

No, when people post in a channel, the cast is still visible to their followers PLUS the channel followers. So it's only ever additive compared to posting outside a channel.

The only question is which channel to cast to. The natural inclination is to post to large channels, but if the cast is irrelevant, it will get moderated (hidden), so the incentive in the end is to cast only to the most relevant channel
