1.2 “Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind” Patanjali. Thoughts and emotions could be seen as fluctuations. You can think about the ability to calm the surface of a restless lake so that we can see all the way to the bottom. The act of training ourselves to observe our thoughts and stop the fluctuations of the mind allow us to see that consciousness itself is our true nature.
