We are immersed in too many words. The proliferation of text makes it hard to hear yourself. Writers should embrace silent, wordless activities. Some good ones: walking, cooking, cleaning, yard work, listening to music (no lyrics).

Big yes to that! My personal list of activities also includes taking a shower 😂 a lot of good ideas for writing come to me that way. It’s funny how a lot of writing is actually not writing and leaving the words just be and take their time.

Yes, indeed. So much of writing is not writing. It's mining inspiration, editing, reading, living.

Big yes to that! I find that writing is usually the end of the process, after a lot of thinking, research, discussing it with friends… When I understood that’s just the way it is, it became way easier to just flow with it
