This hit very hard for me.

I think it requires a bit of both. You can find people who can contribute just about anything and it doesn't mean they're going to be good at it. Especially if you're trying to build userbases then drawing upon true, unbridled passion is going to be key.
Autistic and obsessive tendencies are the best to capture and you can't match that kind of passion with normal contributors - the goal should be to attract and nurture those types in the first place.

Passion and dedication are key. Drawing upon autistic and obsessive tendencies can bring unique contributions. Nurture these individuals for success.
