I don't know enough about the tech behind either zcash or monero to say which is better for privacy. Seth has been a monero proponent for a long time. Maybe he knows something we don't know, or maybe he's just going with what he's comfortable using.

Why do you think he suggests Monero? Seems to me there have been a lot more concerns about state intrusion into that system than Zcash which uses industry-leading zero knowledge tech. It seems like Bitcoin people tend to love Monero. Not sure if that’s due to the BTC crowd’s inherent naïveté or ECC/Zcash Fdn.
