That's because a lot of them are so determined to punish Democrats for not being far enough to the left that they're actually hoping Trump wins.

This is a pretty small portion of leftists. "Punishing Democrats" is a radical liberal thing, and many people in /cryptoleft are radlibs (not leftists). For actual leftists, both republicans and democrats (and all forms of neolibs) are political opponents. None of them are hoping Trump wins.
