Being self employed comes with positives and negatives. You can largely decide which hours you want to work (depending on other life commitments) but the office parties tend to be a bit low-key. What are your favourite things about being self employed, and what do you absolutely hate, or miss from having an employer?

A good thing is that I get to set my own work boundaries. In therapy, having clear boundaries and focusing on your area of expertise is really important. But when I worked for an organization, they didn’t always respect that and sometimes crossed lines with unrealistic or even unethical demands. The downside is not having a stable income and not socializing as much.

That's a good point about unrealistic and unethical demands. There are so many people I know who are regularly asked to work overtime with the expectation that they'll just have to do it and not get any extra pay. This used to happen to me when i worked for an employer, and it's incredibly unfair.

Yeah the system of exploitation is everywhere. When you're standing alone against a group of people, it can feel overwhelming. Leaving is also a form of resistance I guess.
