what's your feelings towards crypto these days? i know it was never your sole focus, but seems like you've moved away further

It’s true, I’m not actively working on crypto right now (except for the Other Internet book). Some separation has helped me appreciate crypto more in certain ways actually, but I don’t really have a coherent picture of how it fits into my worldview these days. My views have expanded a lot and with AI in the picture the world is just a different place

To answer your question though, I think CBDCs are around the corner in most places and there will be significant curtailing of nonregulated stablecoins. They will try to do fiscal dominance in the US and financial repression will become common. I am worried that most crypto orgs will sell out to this regime, and I’m more pro privacy than I was in the past. I don’t believe I’m really suited to work on this problem but I hope others will take it up seriously
