Some additional notes: 

* social accounts must be at least 18 months old 

* verified accounts are much less likely to get the spam label (but can still get them if they behave in a way that is spammy or inauthentic) 

* verifications do not guarantee that someone is human, but they make it very difficult to spin up a lot of fake accounts quickly. this is very important as storage prices are set to reduce significantly

How is this rolling out? 

Verifications will ship later this week and unverified users will be prompted to complete them. 

If you have completed verifications previously, you will automatically be verified.

The verification will show up as a badge on your profile, which will remain private at launch (may become public later)

Why are we doing this? 

There are many inauthentic accounts trying to farm airdrops and rewards. 

Completing verifications allows authentic accounts to stand out by proving things that are hard to fake, like having socials on other networks and holding a balance for a long period of time.

Verify your account by connecting two socials (X, Phone or GitHub) and holding $25 in your wallet. 

Verified accounts are less likely to get the spam label and show up higher in the feed, replies and search. 

They are necessary to earn weekly rewards and qualify for airdrops

one of my only requests to farcaster as more users join and reactive:

building from zero on any platform is hard, and can feel extra hard when it seems there's already a strong in-group (as it seems here).

if someone (re)joins and says it is hard to grow here or that engagement is tough, i encourage you find truth in it before getting defensive or snarky. the latter isn't going to keep anyone around, but the former might.

i would love to see farcaster lean in and embrace new and reactivated users by:

1. replying to new users as much as you expect them to reply to you

2. sharing what's worked for you or others if you see someone share their struggles (and acknowledging it does take time and effort)

3. make someone feel heard, not unwelcome or inadequate

if we want farcaster to grow, let’s be the reason someone sticks around and not the reason they leave.

shout out to @keccers.eth, @matthewb, @bradq, @afrochicks, @garrett (+ many more!) who are really good at engaging with all users!!

One thing that would be great is better tools for recommendations and algos. Maybe it's me, but I keep seeing the same names and faces everywhere. (yes, its usually the same in group). 

Where do these new sign ups go? 

Showing new joiners, or more names that are similar to another profile (just like Twitter does) would be really helpful. Would love to expand network here actually, but not even sure where to start...
