so $BETR is not used as currency in the game, but ETH? What is purpose of the token if I may ask?

50% of the total supply is being used to airdrop top users / as prizes in app, so the token is being used to bootstrap community and reward people who use the app. We are also using half of clanker fees to buy back $BETR and support token health. And it’s a way to bet on the success of the app of course :)

but why would you not use the token itself in the app as a token sink? There is no direct need to hold the token, other than for speculation, right?

Because gating apps with tokens is not good for stickiness, and if people don’t want to use the app, the token won’t matter anyway. User experience first always. Having said that, we are exploring ways that other Base tokens (including BETR) could be used for minting in future, and nothing is off the table really.

ok, so if you don't token-gate app (good argument) then how are you going to calculate airdrop size? read somewhere that this will be function of no. spinnining the wheel, no. of referrals and how much $BETR you hold. The holding should factor in duration and incentivise longer holds before snapshot. Otherwise people will game it in the run up to this and then one big pump & bigger dump. based on what's known right now there is no incentive to hold this token. People will just sell if they win it as a prize (as always) Or am I missing something?
