How many times should you follow up after an interview to take the L and just accept that you’re being completely ghosted?

Waiting to hear back on a prerecorded video interview, a first interview, and a second interview with no responses/updates after a follow-up email to each.

Also, WTF is up with this trend??

I think its being done to hire/promote from within and using applicants to see what is out there to gage the level of employees in a business.   

A lot of these jobs out there seem to have no intention of hiring.  been looking for so long now and its probably just better to create your own job these days.

metal casting, 3d prints,
AI, robotics and mashups of all of these things.

I've also heard about this, that employers are posting positions that they have no interest in filling, or that they're looking for a perfect unicorn candidate and won't go forward with anything else. Really sucks.
