Part of me is dreading the inevitable future of 90% of frames being 404's because they're powered by centralized servers, but other part of me feels that this is more reason to embrace Farcaster as something more ephemeral (as intended, but more than I'd prefer).

Unfortunately frames have no client side logic (great for security), it must all be done server side (and rendered into an image for output). Best case, could make gateways that process logic from immutable sources and renders images.
