Like your point, but to be a nerd: Unlike coins, prediction markets are not lotto tickets. Finite upside. This makes a pretty big difference in (1) the owner’s experience on the inside and (2) the precision of the market signals to the outside.

Yeah if you generalize the definition of "prediction markets" from what's commonly accepted, I agree with you. For now they are pretty much synonymous with yes/no contracts. (I have been working on the "prediction markets" you are talking about for over a year ;)
