are you sure they didnt front run it? sounds really unlikely that one of such few number of guessers would get it verbatim

I think it would be cool in the game if people's responses were rewarded for how early they guessed it (vis a vis the other winning responses)

so someone who was faster than an an NYT web headline could get a little reward vs. people who copied an exact one whenever it appaeared

what I’m saying is the headline was already present somewhere on nytimes.com
