Right on the individual level
Wrong on the societal level

He seems right that for individual growth pain is necessary (ie, it is with character as with muscle) But applying this reasoning at scale seems dangerous on many counts. Eg:

Nation-level: Tech-haves eat up tech-have-nots

Global-level: W/o tech, exponential pop growth leads to crippling poverty for majority of world

This is exactly my thoughts to. You can apply this to yourself to achieve great things, but you cant hold others to the same level without a negative response.
