Under the Influence was my frame of how we too often follow these invisible scripts that have collapsed the richness of existence into a wreck of doomscrolling and disconnectedness. We aren’t that different from AI LLMs—predictive loops repeating patterns. If we’re lucky we learn and get to move onto new emergent patterns.

I don’t enjoy phones as cameras from a tactile sense but there is an immediacy I appreciate. The best camera is the one you have. Forcing myself away from perfectionist tendencies by focusing on the perfectly imperfect. My AI glitch is no different in this regard. Anyway I took a photo of a fallen tree knocking over a fence.

Art doesn’t care what you think of it. The artist might. While we collectively race to the lowest common denominator having taken architecture for instance to its most-boring pre-fab minimalist hell, aiart is not only stealing your low-tier jobs but also recklessly engaging in maximalist abandon. What is this? Glitch? Post-anthropocentric fashion through the lens of object oriented ontology? Or just too lazy to tweak settings to converge to something we’ve all seen before a million times.

It does seem so many of us feel the same way and yet everyone keeps trying to replicate things that aren’t working. I hope once AI gets good enough that it takes less people to build a complex system that works at scale that we can see more real alternatives that foster connection come out of the woodwork.

Trying to reevaluate to what extent social media makes sense in my life anymore. I feel like I’m nurturing a phantom limb or a vestigial organ or something. I think I wanted community at one point but it doesn’t feel like that.

Right now just a multimodal agent assistant and bullet journaling system, but I’m spending a lot of work on the cognition and if I’m not crazy (verdict is still out) I might have some really cool novel ideas that will be pretty fantastic if they work across a wide variety of contexts.
