So if the ETFs don’t stake, one could short them and hedge with LSTs, right? But to short one would need to borrow, so in theory, the staking yield might as well pass through to the ETF holders via the lending rate? Is this how it works? Any tax effects?

The Sonne Finance protocol was hacked and $20 million was withdrawn using the Donation Attack. The hacker made 4 transactions when the 2-day timelock for creating markets ended, and then executed a transaction to add a c-factor to the markets.
