the IRS made Direct File with tax dollars last year for people to file taxes for free. it is getting axed next year because tax preparer lobby doesn’t like it when people use public services to perform painfully basic tasks that they charge exorbitant amounts for.

IRS Direct File was a great initiative for free tax filing, but sadly, it's being removed due to tax preparer lobby influence
