Lack of trust is one of the biggest issues in crypto today. Identity is fragmented and confusing, and folks are often skeptical of others. Even with a vouch from Dan, Vitalik was still asked to prove his identity when he first joined Farcaster. https://i.imgur.com/ea6FKoq.png

I woke up thinking this. Someone could have an impersonating account, e.g. Victor Ma @vicma, and add the real nf.td/victor link in bio. After the nf.td verification, will there be a badge or something that shows on the reciprocal end?

if i'm understanding this correctly - someone creates an impersonating FC account, with the username @vicma - in their FC bio, they add nf.td/victor - though, nf.td/victor has a verified link back to my real FC account only @vm the impersonating FC account won't ever be able to have a verified link to @vm on NFTD

Impersonators create identical accounts, e.g. vbuteriin (one letter diff). They interact with your followers, reply to posts, and fool people into clicking on phishing links. If I'm reading a reply in a thread, I'm not paying attention and double checking nftd.

Impersonators buy verified blue check accounts on Twitter, so they work around the system. My proof of identity is controlled by Instagram, Twitter, etc. If nftd could be an interoperable proof of identity that I use to verify my accounts, that is very powerful.
