🔮 Outlook for 2025 Likely Top 2 Layer 2: Arbitrum and Optimism are expected to remain leaders. Adoption beyond DeFi: Gaming, social apps, and real-world asset tokenization (RWA) may grow. New wave of L3s: Orbit chains could become the "new frontier" for scaling and customization. Possible ARB price growth: If Ethereum L2 adoption grows, ARB governance value could be more recognized, although price is subject to broader market conditions.

🔹 ARBITRUM (ARB) Token Utility Governance: ARB is the governance token of the Arbitrum DAO. No gas token: Unlike some chains, ARB is not used for paying transaction fees — ETH is used instead. 🔹 Perspective in 2025 ✅ Strengths: Ecosystem growth: Continues to attract DeFi and gaming projects due to low fees and high throughput. Strong dev community: Ongoing innovation through Orbit and Stylus (Arbitrum’s custom VM with support for Rust, C, etc.). DAO power: One of the most active governance systems in the L2 space. Enterprise and institutional attention: Custom Orbit chains are being tested by larger organizations. ⚠️ Challenges: Competition: Faces tough competition from other L2s (Optimism, zkSync, Base, Starknet). Sustainability of incentives: Many L2s rely on heavy token incentives — long-term sustainability is being watched. Regulatory landscape: As with all crypto assets, regulations in the US and globally could influence usage and development.

🔹 Arbitrum Ecosystem (as of early 2025) Arbitrum One: The original chain with a thriving DeFi ecosystem. Arbitrum Nova: Optimized for social and gaming dApps, where ultra-low fees and high throughput are critical. Arbitrum Orbit: A framework to build custom chains (Layer 3s) using Arbitrum tech, gaining popularity in 2025 for app-specific chains. 🔹 Major Projects on Arbitrum GMX – Perpetuals DEX and a flagship DeFi protocol. Radiant Capital – Cross-chain lending. Treasure DAO – Gaming ecosystem on Arbitrum Nova. Dopex, Camelot, Pendle – Various DeFi products drawing liquidity to Arbitrum.

Arbitrum is one of the leading Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solutions, developed by Offchain Labs. It uses a technology called Optimistic Rollups to process transactions more efficiently and cheaply than Ethereum’s mainnet while still inheriting its security. Here's a detailed overview and its 2025 perspective: 🔹 What is Arbitrum? Layer 2 solution: Sits on top of Ethereum, offloading some of the computation and data storage. Optimistic Rollups: Assumes transactions are valid and only checks them if challenged, which boosts efficiency. Lower gas fees: By batching transactions, it significantly reduces costs compared to Ethereum Layer 1. Compatibility: Fully compatible with Ethereum smart contracts (Solidity), so developers can easily port dApps.

Study how Warpcast implemented the minimized mini app. It seems it's using Bottom Sheet instead of Bottom Sheet Modal to avoid auto unmount, then save the app metadata and render the component above the bottom tabs. That's really quick and beautiful design. @ashoat.eth 🫡 I just tried this approach in Recaster.

Trading in twilight: sleep deprivation makes you a worse investor “We test whether mental alertness, as proxied by sleep disruption, impairs investor trading performance. Using four complementary approaches, we document that retail investors who experience a later sunset time on average earn lower abnormal returns on their trades.” https://www.nber.org/papers/w33477

Steel & Aluminum Tariffs: Tariffs of 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum were imposed globally, citing national security concerns. USMCA (Replaced NAFTA): Some tariffs were reduced or eliminated between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Biden Administration Adjustments Tariff Review: The administration maintained most tariffs but provided some exclusions and negotiations with China. Electric Vehicle (EV) and Green Energy Focus: Biden emphasized tariffs and subsidies to promote U.S. manufacturing of EVs and renewable energy. Effects of U.S. Tariffs Pros: Protects U.S. industries from foreign competition. Encourages domestic manufacturing. Can be used as leverage in trade negotiations. Cons: Increases costs for U.S. consumers and businesses. Can lead to retaliation from other countries. May disrupt global supply chains.
