Why you can't do that with smart contract/s?

I'm extremely bullish on rollups for the scalability improvement they will give to Ethereum, but I'm still skeptical on the claim "every company in web3 will have his own rollup"

I’m curious, what’s your opinion about this?

I don't think *every* company will have their own rollup, but having a rollup that uses a shared bridge like Polygon/ZKSync/Optimism are doing will be very powerful.

It's basically like hosting a backend for your own app that also supports any token in the ecosystem and is secured by Ethereum.

Apps are simpler, you don't need to host infra to run them, and more easily composable. But can have noisy neighbor problems (chain gets congested so your app costs more), and are reliant on the uptime of the chain they're deployed on.
