Furthered my caffeine rabbit hole last night Spent a few hours looking at the chemical compositions of plants with naturally occurring caffeine and trying to deduce how the synergistic combinations affected humans Some really really interesting things Just bought some kola nuts cause they have a very unique combination But first test starts today: this morning I mixed 1/2 teaspoon of guarana seed powder (~65mg caffeine) with a 17.5g coffee pour over brew (~165-265mg caffeine) What I’m testing is how the addition of compounds like theanine, theobromine, polyphenols, tannins $ saponins will affect the caffeine high Guarana has a decent amount of theobromine and polyphenols which smooth out the peak heights of caffeine and contribute to a lengthening of effects Let’s see how this rides 🚀 Reminder: caffeine is a physical stimulant. I’m about to go lift for 2 hours. If you take this much caffeine for mental concentration, you’re doing more harm than good

+1 on caffeine before a workout. It's been a game changer for my zone 2 and heavy row/cycling days

Yup. Tangible differences. Wait till you realize that changing your caffeine source can provide even further benefits Quick hit - use Guarana for the more endurance events and coffee for the shorter lifting days

Thoughts on the best supplement to source guarana? I'll probably use Solaray
