Happy holidays folks This is your friendly reminder that as a professional trainer, I not only encourage New Year’s resolutions but I make use of them myself It seems the ‘cool’ thing for influencers to do now is bash NY goals, idk why Tell those people to kick rocks, it’s more than OK to use the new year to evaluate your past, reset your attitude, and use Jan 1 as a kickstart to having the best year of your life I go through my previous years goals and set new goals in the week between Christmas & NYE Will let yall know how I did in 2024 and what I’m setting my sights on in 2025

Fitness is a result of consistency over time No matter what variable you’re looking to improve (strength, endurance, aesthetics) Research shows it doesn’t take more than 3-4 training sessions per week If you’re a busy person, 3 days per week is plenty (personally that’s what I do) Give it 12 months, don’t miss a session, and I guarantee you will hit your goals The program doesn’t matter. Your supplements doesn’t matter. Your specific exercises DONT MATTER Log 3 sessions per week for 52 weeks Report back next year 🫡

For many years it was a running joke in the Miami fitness community that I was the only trainer that didn’t like working out I train 2-3x a week for 90ish min at a relatively slow pace Every other trainer gets after it 5+ days a week, HIIT workouts, etc And my clients would always say why? Answer is simple. I don’t inherently love working out. I’d much rather be playing sports Golf, cycling, I mean literally any sport But I’ve been training consistently since I was 12 years old The necessity to constantly seek improvement in my body and health is part of who I am I don’t think about it, I just do Working out to me is the purest display of discipline I 100% believe I can do anything I set my mind to because I’ve proved to myself for literally decades that I have the will to endure So for you - don’t think you need to enjoy exercise. Not all of us do But we make our decisions not based on pleasure, but on goals Good luck

Pro tip: you won’t start to enjoy exercise until you’ve given up on the idea that you can enjoy it One of those “if you’re looking for it you’ll never find it” things The joy comes from building the discipline to know that no matter what, you’re going to take the steps to better yourself You won’t care about enjoying it, you’ll just do what you need to do to improve Then one day you’ll miss a workout cause you’re busy or life of whatever, and when you finally get back in the gym you’ll catch yourself smiling and think, “damn. I really like this shit” And you’ll wonder when that happened, and at some point trying to figure it out you’ll realize your rest time is up and you’ve got to do the next set And then my ears will start ringing cause every time a new person enjoys exercise a trainers ears ring (kinda like how when a bell rings a angel gets its wings)

I have never ever used negative reinforcement with a client But the minute my best friend talks about wanting to lose some weight? “Yo what’s up chunky monkey what’d you eat today?? When was your last workout?”

The ironic part about health is it’s painfully simple to KNOW what to do But incredibly difficult to execute I think that’s why people are constantly looking for shortcuts and “biohacks” If you sleep 7.5+ hours, eat a 80% balanced diet of Whole Foods, and do some form of activity every day you will be in good health But no one wants to do that They want the red light and sauna and cold plunge and supplements and data trackers and coaches and massage guns and therapies and blah blah blah None of that stuff is going to save you. Sleep. Nutrition. Activity. Do those 3 well and you will see success. I guarantee it.

The most frustrating part about being educated on health/wellness is that I constantly see people trying to optimize for the 1-2% Meanwhile they’re neglecting the giant, needle-moving habits that contribute to the 80% You take Creatine religiously but neglect your sleep & nutrition? Congrats u played urself

What’s your views on service member holiday gifts? I think it’s important to show some generosity to people who you purchase services from consistently throughout the year Sometimes I’m not so good at it (this year) but I do try and take care of the people that take care of me Barbers, mailmen, delivery drivers, if there’s a store I frequent, etc It’s not about the money or getting them something they “need” or want It’s about showing that you appreciate them. Just saying hey, I know I pay you for your service, but also I just want to say thanks for being you Going to send my barber a host of food/treats on Monday for him & the shop, got the ups dude a card with cash, and will line up some others this weekend What’s your thoughts?

Point in case? I had this one (capital B) Billionaire client who once told me, “I think you know more about me, the real me, than anyone in my life. I trust you” I’m in the business of relationships, and although I’m an expert in human performance I take the most pride in my ability to communicate

Someone on IG asked me what I learned from working with professional athletes The truth is? Not much Most normies look up to pro athletes because they’re celebrities - in the spotlight, super talented, “cool” But really, their ability to play sport has absolutely 0 correlation to them as a human Athletes are people just like you and me. They have flaws, strengths, family troubles, vices, etc I don’t have a lot to look up to in terms of being a pro athlete lol But the people I learned an enormous amount from are the executives & entrepreneurs I’ve worked with I wish I could name drop, but there are some people that you couldn’t pay to get in a room with, and I’d see them 3-5x a week for months on end I got to hear stories of their struggles, successes, how they problem solved, approach to business As an entrepreneur, I would attribute much of my position today to the clients I’ve worked with When I had an idea/question, they’d take time to sit with me and go through it Priceless

Pound for pound best athlete I’ve ever worked with? Jadeveon Clowney Dude was an absolute freak Big, lean, muscular, fast-twitch fibers out the wazoo Skill acquisition was crazy too, taught him Olympic lifts in less than a month and at the same time had an NBA player take twice as long You would watch him throw weight around and just be like “holy shit” He was also super difficult to program for cause I could never get a feel for how difficult it was. I’d always have to ask him how hard was that and I swear he never got above like a 7

There’s 2 things I never look at the price of: - gas - groceries I’m going to buy them regardless. No sense in stressing over what it costs

What always surprises me about HRV is my best numbers physiologically always seem to come with very poor subjective sleep Couldn’t really fall asleep quickly, woke up around 3a drank a glass of water with electrolytes, up again around 6 And yet my body is extremely well recovered
