Realistically we'll see cameras with trusted hardware chips. And that sort of thing will make it quite easy for governments to add backdoors, so they will be able to lie but we won't - unfortunately a large gain in power for states at the expense of individuals.

lol I would have rejected the question‘s premise and said that the state probably already weaponizes deep fakes e.g. in the war in Ukraine and elsewhere. Isn‘t the CIA expert in physical masks? So wouldn‘t they just looooove perfect deep fakes for themselves?
