While SoP currently is not in a weight class where it can study such things as the governance protocols of huge countries, maybe a theme for the future. In the meantime… good spectator sport. 

Protocol nerds should not stare directly at such things. Wear protective mylar glasses.

Even if it’s too soon to step in, it’s worth considering the diplomatic / political origins of protocols. They’re one of the original sociotechnical tools. I think it’s underappreciated how Lindy they are. 

That protocols are having a renaissance (rebirth) is a signal of some shifting undercurrent
