Is there a way to prompt DALL-E to not output cartoon-looking images?

Haven't done much with DALL-E but with Midjourney & Stable Diffusion one great trick is to name film stock / cameras in the prompt if you want more realistic images. For drawings / art it is good to name an artist or specific style.

Yes. I’ll be publishing a DALLE-3 prompt engineering guide tonight or tomorrow, but until then, use numeric values/ratings in your feedback with DALLE-3, and you can guide your prompt better. e.g., one of the results from my experiments with DALLE-3, w/ glitchiness = 9000, weirdness = 9000, and funniness = -9000:
