One weird thing I've become increasingly skeptical of is promoting/advocating for classes of things rather than specific examples. For example, "blockchains", "sharing economy", and even increasingly on the fence about "public goods".

I think so! About 90% of the way to convincing myself. Biggest open question is whether my sample size is big enough or there's an entire class of examples I'm missing 😛

I do wonder, your examples seem econ/ technology related. What was the context that triggered the thinking? And are then any other areas where you think this applies more so than others?

I think that in general, specificity is crucial when discussing anything of importance. ie why debates start with really nailing down the definitions, to understand first and foremost what the heck we're even talking about.
