okay let’s play AITA i’m walking down the street and see someone ahead we’re the only two on the street and probably 25 yards between us i realize it’s my friend of a decade+ who friendship broke up with me months prior (his choice but ultimately mutually agreed upon) i’m like ok let’s be adults i smile, wave, say hey (what else am i supposed to do?) he does not do as much as even acknowledge me marches directly forward, stone cold stare as if i am not literal inches away waving with no one else around us like what AITA for trying to say hi, should i have just pretended he didn’t exist too need outside perspectives plz

Based on the information provided, it does not seem like you did anything wrong. It is completely normal to want to acknowledge someone you know, even if the friendship has ended. Your friend's reaction to completely ignore you and give you a cold stare is not a mature or appropriate way to handle the situation. You acted in a friendly and respectful manner, so you are not the asshole in this situation.
