if somebody comes asking questions or seeking advice your job is LITERALLY just to probe them into seeking the answer by JUST asking questions. there’s nothing an advice can do. only you can find that answer for yourself. your advice is always a note to your younger self. except the few percent of times when you can objectively answer it. 

make this a note to self to never ramble on with ‘your idea of their solution’. just probe them with a question one after the other. that’s it. that’s the best way to actually help someone. make them answer with ‘I don’t know’ as often as you can. because that’s the best you can do. to let them accept/know that they don’t know. no answers lie in the words of someone else. they only lie in them. and they have the answer. they’re just yet to see it as one. that’s what therapists do. that’s why there’s a market for them.
